Quote Tweet
A social-media format in which a user shares another post with their own commentary attached.
A quote tweet (or 'quote post', depending on the platform) is the social-media convention of resharing another user's post with one's own commentary attached. The mechanic was popularised by Twitter and has been adopted, in various forms, across most modern social platforms.
Structurally, a quote tweet is a quotation in the literal sense: the original post is preserved and the new author is responding to it. It restores some of what the simple 'retweet' lost — context, framing, and the responder's own voice.
Like all quotation, it can be used in good faith or in bad. A generous quote tweet adds, sharpens, or extends. A hostile one strips the original of context to make a point its author never made.
